Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy
Specialized care that goes beyond symptoms.
Whole-body care for pelvic health and function.
Few physical therapists decide to specialize in just one area of the body; Dr. Anne Viser specializes in two. She is both a trained scoliosis specialist and a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist.
The pelvic floor consists of multiple muscles that play a role in everyday functions – bladder and bowel control, support for the internal pelvic organs, stabilization of the core, and sexual function. Therefore, it is essential that our pelvic floor muscles be in good working order.
Dr. Anne is trained to perform external and internal assessments which can reveal weakness in the pelvic floor muscles, increased muscle tone (tightness) in the pelvic floor, and prolapse.
From her assessment, she is able to teach patients how to contract and/or relax and stretch the pelvic floor muscles. She also assesses the impact that one’s spinal posture, breathing patterns, and core activation may be having on the pelvic floor musculature, and can help create a customized, comprehensive plan of care for each patient that goes beyond solely pelvic floor rehab.
Dr. Anne has spent years of her career helping patients overcome urinary incontinence, pain with pelvic exams, pain with intercourse, and managing prolapse. Pelvic floor physical therapists play an invaluable role in patients’ day to day quality of life.

We will talk through your symptoms and pertinent medical history and discuss your goals and any questions you may have regarding the exam and treatment approach.
We will then do a global exam to assess your overall posture, mobility, flexibility, strength and coordination. We can then look more specifically at your breathing pattern and the muscles of your core, including the pelvic floor. This can be done with an external assessment and/or with an internal assessment to further assess the overall tone, strength and coordination of your pelvic floor muscles.
We will review your exam findings and discuss a physical therapy treatment plan to address your goals. This may include a home exercise program and tips or strategies to help address your symptoms. We will then discuss a recommended follow-up schedule.
